8i CARTERS NEW ESCHSCHOLTZIA FOR 1913. THE RAJAH. We have again the pleasure of introducing to our customers a new Eschscholtzia, which we venture to say will be as well received as its numerous predecessors. The Rajah is another outcome of the various crossings which we have described with some detail in previous copies of our catalogue, and brings a new colour, which can best be described as a purplish carmine. No. 1598. Price per packet, is. Carters New Hybrids.—Contain many shades and tints of colour not yet seen in Eschscholtzias, intervening between the pale rosea and the intense Mikado, and between the lemon Californica and the brilliant Carmine King, giving a play of colour at once interesting and brilliant. Award of Merit, R.H.S.—The Mikado was the result of a cross between Mandarin, which we introduced in 1879, and Carmine King, of 1906. The blend of these two colours has produced a brilliant orange-crimson, suffused with the lustre of the Carmine King ... ... ... ... 1 Carters Carmine King.—This was introduced by us in 1906 after having received an Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society. Plants in flower have excited admiration wherever seen, the lustrous carmine colour being quite novel in Eschscholtzias ... ... ... ... ... 6d. & I Carters Diana.—This is a most dainty flower. The colour is a rosy white, while the petals are fluted in a most novel manner, giving the flower quite a fantastic and attractive appearance, 6d. & I Dainty Queen.—A beautiful shade in Eschscholtzias. Colour a tender blush or pale coral pink, slightly deeper towards the edges, with a groundwork of delicate cream ; same colour inside as outside the flower. The blossoms stand well above the bright green foliage, giving it a singularly attractive appearance ... ... ... ... ... ... 6d. & I Carters Double Orange 6d. & 1 Carters Mandarin.—Exterior of blossom orange-crimson, 6d. & 1 Carters Rose Cardinal.—Delicate bright rose ... 6d. & 1 The Golden West.—The largest flowering of all the Eschscholtzias.
