GLADIOLUS
CARDINALIS
For Spring Forcing.
The cardinalis and colvellii
types are decided winter and
spring forcing varieties. The
bulbs are ready in October and
November. They force readily
and are extensively used by both
private and commercial growers
as they make an excellent cut
flower, and last a long time when
cut and kept in fresh water.

Cultural Directions. _
A good soil such as is used for potting bulbs is a suitable compost for growing these varieties.
Plant bulbs in Flats or Pots. A 6-inch pot will hold about seven bulbs. Cover the same to a depth of
one inch and place in a cool moist place. When they have made an inch or two of growth, they can
then be moved into a warmer situation and kept growing, an occasional feeding of weak liquid
manure will help to produce a larger flower spike.
