JAPANESE HOLLY—Ilex Crenata
FOR real versatility, consider the Japanese Holly. This charming Evergreen Shrub
really cares little whether its home is in the full sunlight or in the partial shade. It
blends, therefore, equally
well with other Evergreen 1
Shrubs and with beds of Conifers, to which it lends a pleasing
note of contrast.
When allowed to grow naturally
it forms a large shrub of rather
loose habit, but when sheared it
can be kept at almost any size
desired and grows dense and
bushy in the process! It is admirably adapted to hedge planting, too, and is worthy of much
more general use in this way.
Being Evergreen it has all-the-
year beauty. It solves the problem of a hedge for partial shade. It is excellent, too,
seashore.
