Recommended for very early use, both for large Onions and young for the table. Plant the sets early in spring in shallow drills one foot apart, and one inch between sets. Cover slightly. Qt. This vegetable is used for garnishing moire than any other plant of our gardens ; it is extensively used in soups, stews, etc. As the seed is very slow to germinate, sometimes two or three weeks will elapse before the plants make their appearance, and in dry weather often fail entirely. Plants should be started in a hotbed, if possible, but if sown out of doors, the extra DOUBLE curled. seeds should be soaked in quite warm water at least twenty-four hours; When the plants are two or three inches high, set them in rows five or six inches apart.
