AMARANTHUS.
An ornamental foliaged and much admired class of
plants, useful as the background of a flower border or
for making an ornamental hedge, or bed on the lawn.
The seed may be sown in the open ground, or in a hotbed, which is recommended, and transplant two feet
apart the first of June. They are the most brilliant in a
poor soil and dry season. Half-hardy annuals.
